Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
